Ecological Sanctuary Night Hike

The Ecological Sanctuary has trails, viewpoints, coffee and banana plantations, and flora and fauna variety. This tour was born more than two decades ago, with the premise of preserving the biodiversity found in the 30 hectares of this primary and secondary forest located on the Pacific slope of Monteverde.

A local Costa Rican family manages the site; its primary activity is ecotourism. Therefore, their interest is to carry out conservation projects to preserve and regenerate the forest on the property.

During your tour, you’ll explore the Ecological Sanctuary at night and get an entirely different perspective on the tropical forest. The sounds, colors, sensations, and atmosphere in the forest are completely different than they are during the day, and with the help of the guide you can identify plants and animals, and come to understand what happens in the forest after dark. And along the way, you’ll be supporting a small, local family-owned business as well as the continued conservation of the area.

• We limit tours to a maximum of 9 participants per guide for better enjoyment.

Encountering wildlife is not guaranteed. Exploring the reserve with your guide will give you the best chance to spot some of the many species that inhabit the cloud forest, but ultimately you are venturing into the natural habitat of wild animals, whose behavior is impossible to predict with certainty.
